At Apartments Resurfacing, we believe in the power of giving back to our community. Recently, we had the opportunity to partner with Christian Community Centers, a local organization that focuses on supporting foster youth who age out of the system. Our goal was to renovate and repaint the Cafe at Christian Community Centers, a space used for foster care events in collaboration with True Pursuit, an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children in foster care.
We were fortunate to receive generous donations of materials from Sherwin Williams and Howard's Ace Hardware, which greatly contributed to the success of our project. Additionally, we were overwhelmed by the support of our employees, their families, and friends, who showed up in large numbers to volunteer their time and effort.
Focusing on Foster Youth Aging Out
Christian Community Centers plays a crucial role in supporting foster youth as they transition into adulthood. In Arizona alone, there are over 19,000 youth in foster care. More than 900 young adults age out of the system each year. These young adults face numerous challenges, including higher rates of homelessness, unemployment, and lack of access to education and healthcare.
· 50% of those who age out will be homeless in 18 months
· 60% of men will face incarceration by age 21
· 70% of women are pregnant by age 20
Christian Community Center offers these young adults counseling, housing, job and vocational training, and life skill training to help them transition into adulthood successfully.
Encouraging Local Volunteering
Our experience with Christian Community Centers has inspired us to encourage other individuals and businesses to volunteer locally and make a difference in their communities. Volunteering not only benefits those in need but also has a positive impact on the volunteers themselves and the community as a whole.
The Impact of Local Volunteering
Statistics show that local volunteering has a significant impact on communities. In Arizona, volunteers contribute millions of hours of service each year, equivalent to millions of dollars in economic value. This highlights the importance of volunteering and the valuable role it plays in building stronger, more resilient communities.
Join Us in Making a Difference
We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful for the support of our community partners in making this project a success. We encourage others to join us in volunteering locally and improving the lives of those around us. Together, we can make a difference!
